Frequently Asked Questions

Electric scooters are environmentally friendly as they do not emit polluting gases like petrol or diesel engines. Running costs are extremely low compared to petrol scooters, as while the purchase price is approximately the same as an equivalent petrol scooter, electricity costs a lot less than petrol per mile, there is no road tax to pay, lower insurance policies and free parking in some London boroughs. A 13A plug socket is all that is required to charge our scooters.
Currently, electricity costs approximately £0.10 to 0.15 per kWh, depending on your energy supplier. This means that using a Vmoto City 80L electric scooter model you will spend less than £1.00 per 100 miles. Other, higher power models cost between £1.00 and £2.00 per 100 miles.
We recognise that there are limited numbers of people who will be able to maintain our scooters, which is why we offer free servicing at 6 months, 12 months and 24 months. If your scooter suffers a mechanical breakdown at home or by the roadside, we offer free repair for two years.
The range of an electric scooter depends on factors such as road condition, hills, temperature, weight of the rider and tyre pressure. The range is also influenced by the battery technology applied. Depending on the model and vehicle the range of Vmoto UK scooters varies, from 30 to 37 miles for the City 80L to 93 to 99 miles for the 120LD+.
Vmoto’s batteries are rated to maintain a capacity of 80% of their initial capacity after 3 years. Keeping up with our recommended charging and storage practices will ensure optimum battery life. If your battery loses more than 20% capacity before this time then, subject to compliance with the warranty conditions, we will replace it free of charge.
Charging time depends on how depleted the battery is, the size of the battery and the power source available. The City 80L has a smaller battery and so charging from 0-100% takes about 4 hours. On the other hand, the large battery in the 120LD+ takes about 7 hours to charge.
You must have a valid provisional or full driving licence covering mopeds or motorcycles to ride our electric scooters. Our City 80L is classified as a moped (class AM) as its motor is rated at 1kW. The other models are light motorcycles in class A1.

As with all mopeds and motorcycles you may need to complete a compulsory basic training course (CBT) to validate your licence before you can ride on the road.
• If you obtained your full driving licence before 1 February 2001 you do not need to complete CBT to ride the City 80L but you need it for all other models.
• If you obtained your full driving licence on or after 1 February 2001 then CBT is required (for all models).
• If you have a provisional moped licence then CBT is required and you must display L plates until you qualify for a full licence – provisional entitlement with CBT is valid for two years after which CBT must be retaken.
CBT can be completed in one day and costs around £70. More information about Driver Vehicle Licensing including CBT can be found at www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring.

Electric scooters are exempt from vehicle tax but, like all road vehicles, electric scooters must be registered with the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) and display number plates.
Every vehicle in the UK that is more than three years old needs an MOT test and electric scooters are no exception. This will cover all the standard tests for a motorcycle.
At Vmoto UK your warranty covers the repair or replacement of any part, which is defective in material or factory workmanship under normal use for the applicable warranty period. Warranty cover is 3 years or 50,000 km whichever occurs first. For further details please see your warranty booklet.
Cost efficiency
The economics of driving electric are very compelling both in terms power consumption and service and maintenance. If you drive around 25,000 miles per year your petrol savings will be in excess of £1,000 per scooter per year.

The distance range on Vmoto delivery scooter models: 120L+and 120LD+ is up to 99 miles on one charge, i.e. comparable to or in excess of the equivalent petrol scooter. Time is saved as plugging in is quicker than filling up.

Image & Marketing
Vmoto scooters have ample space to include your branding. Less heating means that decals last longer and can be placed practically anywhere on the scooter. You can apply your logo, slogan or company colours, as well as demonstrating your green credentials.

Tracking ability
Vmoto’s scooters can optionally be fitted with GPRS enabled tracking devices, showing managers the location, speed and battery state of the fleet from a customisable web interface.

At Vmoto UK we will respond immediately to any of your requests and support you. Our service and maintenance partner is available for after sales service at any time and we offer regular inspections and servicing. We can provide training to your internal technicians if needed.
Scooters and spare parts from Vmoto UK stock can be delivered to your door within 3-5 working days. If you require a custom-built vehicle, the delivery time depends on how fast the factory can produce it; however, it normally takes up to 90 days.
